  • AREA OF KNOWLEDGE: Fire Protection FORMAT: Online - Live Classes DURATION: 60 hours (2.4 ECTS) DATES: Start: November 3, 2025 - End: December 19, 2025. After the registration period ends, it is possible to complete the training program in a flexible format. SESSIONS: Mondays and Wednesdays. Time: 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM (Spanish time). Attendance is not mandatory; sessions will be recorded and available on the virtual platform. TARGET AUDIENCE:

  • Technical professionals in the engineering and architecture sectors who wish to delve deeper into fire risks associated with heritage sites.
  • Firefighters and intervention brigade personnel aiming to specialize in fire intervention and planning for fires affecting artistic and monumental heritage.
  • Security directors, insurance sector personnel, conservators and restorers, museum staff, etc., who wish to specialize specifically in fire risks to historical, artistic, and documentary heritage, developing skills and analytical capacity for identifying these risks and planning for potential fires.
  • Recent graduates or students in their final years who wish to begin their professional career in the Fire Protection sector.

    • GOALS

  • This Specialization Course aims to provide students with comprehensive and qualified training in fire protection focused on historical, artistic, and documentary heritage. Each of the five modules is designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and technical abilities necessary for defining risks to heritage sites, as well as for fire assessment, planning, and protection. The specific objectives of this Specialization Course are as follows:
  • To introduce students to fundamental concepts related to heritage and the importance of preventing potential fires.
  • To analyze the regulatory framework for fire protection applicable to historical, artistic, and documentary heritage, enabling students to analyze, understand, and apply the various requirements and conditions established.
  • To analyze and determine the fire risks associated with historical, artistic, and documentary heritage in its different forms.
  • To delve into the effects of fire on heritage sites, as well as the repercussions of using water in fire suppression.
  • To be able to plan actions in the event of a fire, both in terms of prevention and response once a fire has broken out.
  • Learn the alternatives for handling cultural property in case of fire, as well as its evacuation and transfer to a safe place.
  • Deepen and develop the operating principles, components, and basic design criteria of the different systems that make up active and passive fire protection, with application to the risks and conditions of historical, artistic, and documentary heritage.

    • METHODOLOGY AND EVALUATION

    La metodología de trabajo y estudio es plenamente online, permitiendo al alumno tanto el aprovechamiento de las clases virtuales como la flexbilidad de poder avanzar según su disponibilidad a través de la plataforma virtual.

    PROGRAM

    Este Curso de Especialización está formado por un total de cinco módulos, a través de los cuales se abordan de forma transversal los aspectos clave de la protección contra incendios en el patrimonio histórico-artístico y documental, desde la evaluación de riesgos hasta la planificación y respuesta ante emergencias.
