What is the role of the Accredited Field Evaluator (ECA)?

The Accredited Field Assessor (ECA) symbolizes a new professional category of high recognition, a new professional group of fire assessors, who can carry out their activity as workers integrated into a Rating Agency, or as independent professionals, in which case they have a collaboration agreement signed with a Rating Agency.

Who can act as an ECA?

What is the Fire Safety Efficiency Rating Method (FRSave)?

The FRSave Method is the only fire risk rating system specifically designed to assess a building's fire safety performance and display it on a Rating Label. This label is accompanied by a comprehensive Assessment Report covering critical areas to ensure the building's protection. This key information empowers the business owner to develop an effective and efficient fire risk reduction strategy. The ECA (Engineering Certification Agency) is the professional authorized to carry out this rating through the Rating Agencies.

Areas of operation of the Accredited Field Evaluator (AFE)

FRA – Fire Risk Assessment

Within their role of fire risk analysis, the Accredited Field Assessor (AFA) has the knowledge and tools to:

  • Identify the activation points present in the inspected establishment, as well as fuels present, risk processes, etc.
  • Perform a complete probability analysis.

Key aspects

Certification process as an ECA and subsequent professional activity

  • When can I get certified as an ECA?

Accreditation as an ECA can be obtained through the various calls for applications launched by ESSIIF, APTB, and FRSave. Check the upcoming planned editions.

  • In addition to being useful for professionals who want to integrate into the Fire Safety Rating (FRSave) method, certification as an ECA (Engineered Fire Assessment Corps) has proven to be a credential that provides significant value to those responsible for fire safety and prevention in companies:
  • Occupational Health and Safety Managers, Maintenance or Production Managers, etc.
  • Technical Inspectors from Control Bodies.
  • Risk Engineers and Inspectors.
  • Fire Protection Design Engineers.
  • Other related profiles. This value as an ECA for these professionals stems from understanding the complete picture of fire protection as an aspect or component that plays a role in the overall fire protection strategy. This allows for better problem-solving when unique situations arise and improves communication among all stakeholders, including competent authorities and insurance companies.
