  • GOALS

  • The main objective of this course is to provide students with comprehensive and qualified training in the field of Fire Protection, specifically focusing on fire investigation and its application to fire expert analysis. Each module aims to equip students with sufficient knowledge in fire protection engineering to understand, analyze, and apply the various elements involved in fire investigation, from identifying the probable causes of the fire to preparing an expert report based on proper data collection. The specific objectives of this Advanced Course in Fire Investigation and Expert Analysis are:
  • To understand the main causes of fires, differentiating between accidental and arson.
  • To develop the fundamental aspects of on-site fire inspection.
  • To learn to distinguish and identify the different marks and effects caused by fire.
  • To equip students with the critical thinking skills, tools, and procedures for fire investigation, addressing the determination of the fire's origin and cause.
  • To understand the causes of death in fires.
  • Be able, once the course is completed, to write a complete expert report.
  • METHODOLOGY AND EVALUATION

  • The work and study methodology is entirely online, allowing students to follow the course flexibly according to their availability. The main characteristics of the teaching method are described below:
  • Training delivered through the ESSIIF virtual platform.
  • The course consists of materials edited and created exclusively by professionals in each of the subjects taught. These professionals will develop each topic by introducing fundamental theoretical concepts while incorporating the necessary practical design aspects. The core of the course is comprised of PDF documentation delivered via the platform.
  • Theoretical and practical training activities through video lessons complement the provided documentation.
  • Individualized tutoring with the program's instructors.
  • Students will have access to the virtual platform for six months to complete the course. This period can be extended for another six months.
  • The evaluation of each module will be conducted online through the submission of assignments and partial projects (80%) and a theoretical-practical exam that students will take at the end of each module (20%).

Fire Markings. 2.1 Formation and Dynamics. 2.2 Recognition and Interpretation. 2.3 Effects of Fire on Materials. 2.3.1 Effects on the Composition and Nature of the Affected Material. 2.3.2 Effects of Fire on the Integrity of the Affected Material. 2.3.3 Other Effects. Module 3. Fire Investigation. 3.1 Introduction. Stages of Determining the Cause and Origin of the Fire. 3.2 Data Collection and Analysis. Required Documentation and Data. 3.3 Determining the Direction of Fire Spread. 3.4 Determining the Point of Origin. 3.5 Determining the cause. 3.6 Investigation of fires with fatalities. 3.6.1 Causes of death in fires. 3.6.2 Procedure for conducting investigations and expert reports on fires with fatalities.     DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES

  • At the end of the program, you will receive two certifications issued by two different entities:
  • ESSIIF's own degree.
  • Isabel I University certificate, with recognition of the ECTS credit equivalence of the number of hours completed.
