  • AREA OF KNOWLEDGE: Fire Protection MODE: Online DURATION: 30 hours (1.2 ECTS) START DATE: Ongoing enrollment. Students may begin the program at their convenience, with a total of 6 months to complete it. This period may be extended for an additional 6 months. TARGET AUDIENCE:
  • Fire protection professionals interested in training on specific topics within the sector or who wish to expand their technical skills in the design of seismic systems for fire protection installations.
  • Technical professionals in the engineering and architecture sectors, specializing in project development or in the supervision and management of construction projects, who wish to delve specifically into the design of seismic fire protection systems according to relevant standards.
  • Recent graduates or students in their final years who want to start their professional career in the Fire Protection sector, acquiring knowledge and technical skills in the design of seismic Fire Protection systems according to reference regulations.
  • GOALS

    El objetivo principal de este curso es proporcionar al alumno una formación completa y cualificada dentro sector de la Protección Contra Incendios, en este caso centrado en el diseño de sistemas sísmicos conforme a NFPA-13 y FM 2-8.

    METHODOLOGY AND EVALUATION

  • The work and study methodology is entirely online, allowing students to follow the course flexibly according to their availability. The main characteristics of the teaching method are described below:
  • Training delivered through the ESSIIF virtual platform.
  • The course consists of materials edited and created exclusively by professionals in each of the subjects taught. These professionals will develop each topic by introducing fundamental theoretical concepts while incorporating the necessary practical design aspects. The core of the course is comprised of PDF documentation delivered via the platform.
  • Theoretical and practical training activities through video lessons complement the provided documentation.
  • Individualized tutoring with the program's instructors.
  • Students will have access to the virtual platform for six months to complete the course. This period can be extended for another six months.
  • The evaluation of each module will be conducted online through the submission of assignments and partial projects (80%) and a theoretical-practical exam that students will take at the end of each module (20%).

Design according to NFPA-13. 2.1 Introduction. 2.2 Seismic Considerations and Requirements for Construction and Installation. 2.3 Seismic Support Design. 2.3.1 Seismic Maps and Data. 2.3.2 Lateral Supports. 2.3.3 Longitudinal Supports. 2.3.4 Supports for Vertical Pipelines. 2.3.5 Bracing of Branch Lines. 2.3.6 Horizontal Seismic Force. Module 3. Design according to FM 2-8. 3.1 Introduction. 3.2 Seismic Considerations and Requirements for Construction and Installation. 3.3 Seismic Support Design. 3.3.1 Seismic Maps and Data. 3.3.2 Lateral Supports. 3.3.3 Longitudinal Supports. 3.3.4 Supports for Standpipes. 3.3.5 Bracing of Branches. 3.3.6 Horizontal Seismic Force. 3.4 Protection of Systems Other Than Sprinklers. 3.5 Use of NFPA 13 with Limitations. Module 4. Calculation of Seismic Supports with Free Software. 4.1 Introduction to the Software. 4.2 Solving Real-World Case Studies. Module 5. Final Course Project.

    DEGREES AND CERTIFICATES

  • At the end of the program, you will receive two certifications issued by two different entities:
  • ESSIIF's own degree.
  • Isabel I University certificate, with recognition of the ECTS credit equivalence of the number of hours completed.
